EMIS ACCESS - Start up information

We have made a slight change to our prescription form. The form is very similar to the existing form and self explanatory but you will need to delete any bookmarks you have to the existing form as it will no longer be available. Any details you have saved will no longer available

Only order what you need when your prescriptions are due. Please help us to avoid waste. Medications are not recycled when returned to the pharmacy. These items have to be destroyed. If you have any queries or issues regarding your medications talk to the pharmacist or GP.
Savings of £44 million by reducing waste can be used to help provide other services within the NHS. Your help is appreciated.

From January 2017 all prescriptions ordered will be processed in two working days. This is due to the increased volume and type of requests made by patients, this additional time allows the GP's a little extra flexibility for appointments/emergencies/home visits/public holidays etc.

Please help us by ordering your prescription in plenty of time, especially at weekends and public holiday periods.

Repeat prescriptions can be ordered via the telephone, at the reception desk or through the postal service and through Patient Access. it remains the patients responsibility to ensure prescriptions are ordered in time.

Occasionally the Doctors may ask to see you before issuing further prescriptions; this is to ensure that the medication that you are receiving is still the most appropriate for your needs.

Collections

In addition it is the patient’s responsibility to arrange collection of the prescription, and this can be done in the following ways:

  • In person
  • By a chemist – patient should arrange for collection and delivery where a service is offered by a chemist.
  • By a friend or relative.
  • By post – the patient on this occasion should supply the Practice with stamped self-addressed envelopes. The Practice however cannot take responsibility for the length of time that these take to be delivered.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner, practice nurse or practice pharmacist at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
